Alocasia species - Elephant Ear

These plants are perennial with some protection during harsh winters, unless noted. They all grow well in shady situations but some will do fine in full sun. They are all deer resistant.

Alocasia Borneo Giant - Giant Elephant Ear. Soft green leaves to 4' long. Will take full sun. This is the largest growing Alocasia we have. Ht. 6'-10'.

Alocasia Caladora - Hardy. Large, upright growing leaves, bright green and noticeable veined.  Will take full sun if shaded during the middle of the day. The sunnier the location, the more water they require.   Ht. 6'.

Alocasia corozon - Tender but worth it with elongated, silver-blue leaves.  Does require shade, a smaller grower for containers or the garden. Ht. 2'.

A. Frydek - Tender in all but the mildest winters.  A striking plant with very dark green leaves and white veins.  Stunning in containers. Shade. Ht. 2'.

A. Hilo Beauty - Hardy in milder winters (probably not this past winter but we'll see).  Medium green leaves with splotches of different shades of green and cream.  Shade with possibly some morning sun. Ht. 3'.
